A Day in the Life of a Sake Expert
As a Sake expert, I’m often asked what a typical day in my life looks like. Well, it’s never the same and always filled with unique and exciting experiences. Let me take you through one such day.
My day starts early, usually around 6:00 AM. I believe in the saying, “The early bird catches the worm,” and this is especially true in my line of work. There’s a certain tranquility in the early morning hours that I find perfect for exploring new Sake flavors and aromas.
Starting the Day with Sake
My breakfast is simple, usually consisting of traditional Japanese dishes like miso soup, grilled fish, and pickled vegetables. And of course, a small serving of Sake. Some might find it unusual to have Sake so early in the day, but it’s a part of my job. It helps me start my day on a high note and sets the tone for the rest of the day.
After breakfast, I head to my home office where I start my workday. As a Sake expert, my work is diverse and includes everything from tasting and reviewing different Sake brands, writing articles, and consulting with restaurants on their Sake menus.
One of the highlights of my day is Sake tasting. I usually taste about 10-15 different Sakes each day. I make detailed notes about each one, noting its aroma, flavor, and overall impression. This helps me in my reviews and recommendations.
Consulting and Writing
When I’m not tasting Sake, I’m consulting with restaurants and bars, helping them curate their Sake menus. I also spend a significant part of my day writing. I write articles for various publications, sharing my knowledge and passion for Sake with a wider audience.
By the time evening rolls around, I’m usually ready for a break. I like to unwind by taking a walk in the neighborhood or spending some time in my garden. I find these activities therapeutic and they help me clear my mind.
Ending the Day with Sake
My day usually ends with a quiet dinner at home, often accompanied by a glass of Sake. It’s a moment of relaxation and reflection, a perfect end to a busy day. As I sip my Sake, I often find myself marveling at the complexity and depth of this wonderful beverage.
So, that’s a day in my life as a Sake expert. It’s a job that requires a lot of dedication and passion, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Every day brings new experiences and opportunities to learn and grow. And of course, there’s always the joy of tasting some of the finest Sakes in the world.
